Think about what your customers type into Google, not what you'd put on a brochure. "Emergency plumber Dallas" gets searched. "Rapid response plumbing solutions" does not. Use the actual words real people use — including your city and state.
Make sure the basics are right
Page titles, meta descriptions, and heading tags still matter. Every page on your site should have a unique title that includes your main keyword and location. "Denver Electrician | Mike's Electric" is better than just "Home."
Publish useful content consistently
One well-written blog post a week — answering questions your customers actually ask — compounds over time. After six months, you'll be ranking for searches your competitors haven't even thought about.
Get links from local sources
A mention with a link from a local directory, a Chamber of Commerce, a local news site, or a partner business is worth more than any SEO trick. These signals tell Google you're a real, trusted local business.
Be patient
SEO takes three to six months to show results. That's not a flaw — it's the nature of building trust. The businesses that stay consistent with it outcompete everyone else in their area within a year.
